New Term

This week sees a variety of daytime classes commence: Latin (there are two); Art History which is run by the Centre for Lifelong Learning; Literature and Local History, both run by independent tutors, and also Russian which will be led by one of our members. We hope the wintry weather doesn’t put people off attending. That can also be said for tonight’s lecture, Sport, History and British Culture, 1700 -2000, to be given by Richard Holt. He was recently co-writer of the BBC Radio 4 series Sport and the British presented in 30 instalments by Clare Balding. He is also a Newcastle United supporter and has written on Jackie Milburn as a Tyneside hero.
