We had the final events of the year this week, including the launch of The Abstraction of Verse, an exhibition of images and words by Sheree Mack and Andrew Belshaw. It’s been a busy but productive year and it won’t be long before our 2013 activities begin in earnest.
A debate on the meaning and value of culture, hosted by Melvyn Bragg, will take place on the 2nd January – there are no seats left so please don’t call for tickets!…but what a fabulous way to start the new year. We are thrilled that the BBC decided to hold the event here – it will be broadcast on Friday 4th January on BBC Radio 4 at 9am and at 9.30pm. Don’t miss it!
There are still a few tickets left for the institution that is Phantoms at the Phil. Stalwarts Gail-Nina Anderson and Sean O’Brien will be reading new ghost stories, as well as award-winning crime novelist, Val McDermid. The event will take place on 4th January at 7pm. It’s going to be brilliant!
P.S. Watch out for elephants, mummies, postcards, the solar system and much, much more in 2013, our 220th year!
