Laughter in the Library

The pitter-patter of tiny feet (not all that tiny) echoed through the library yesterday as we welcomed six groups of children from Tynemouth’s Priory Primary School. They were investigating Grainger Town, Greek revival architecture and the work of John Dobson. Each group had 10 minutes (in theory) in the building so they were whisked around by staff and volunteers….

Later in the day we had another successful New Members’ social event. Pat Lowery, one of our fabulous tour guides, gave the group a short tour of the building. This was followed by drinks and chat with some staff and board members. We also put some books on display, many of which do not often see the light of day since they live in the basement bookstore. The Dodo and its Kindred is a particular favourite….

And today the sound of laughter and chatter of a happy bunch of volunteers fills the main library as they help stuff envelopes with our latest newsletter.
