It’s Friday

Things have calmed down a bit for us today. However, the morning’s great excitement was the delivery (at last) of our new drinks machine which we will use when the hatch isn’t open.  Most of the staff have had a go at operating it, and Paul, our Chairman, is around to give members  hands-on “training”.

The other piece of news is that two people from ITV had a scout around the building today with a view to it being used as a location for a forthcoming episode of Vera, which of course is based on Ann Cleeves’ novels. Which reminds us, don’t forget that Ann will be appearing here next Sunday (14th), with Elizabeth Carling, who will be reading “The Habit of Silence”, a short story featuring Vera Stanhope, and set in the Lit & Phil. This Sunday at 7.30pm, John Suchet will be here talking about his new book on Beethoven,  and signing copies. Book your place now for both these must-see events!
