Last night saw the official kick-off of our autumn programme of events with the launch of Janet MacLeod Trotter’s new novel, The Haunting of Kulah. And what a great start to the season it was with a packed house, special Kulah cupcakes, a holiday snaps slide-show with a difference, as well as readings from Janet, Graeme and their son (in various headgear). The event raised nearly £250 for the Lit & Phil Appeal. Thank you to Janet, a great supporter of the Society, and her family. Your generosity is really appreciated.
Today the library has been just as busy with more guided tours, as well as a brilliant lecture to a packed room (almost 100 in the audience!) on Lord Armstrong, who was our President for 40 years. It was given by well-known local historian Ken Smith who will be back again later in the autumn with talks on North East Miners’ Memorials and also the History of the Newcastle Town Walls.
Next week we hope to introduce our first “guest blogger”….you’ll just have to wait to find out who it is, though……
