CDG North East – Walking the Wall for the Lit & Phil – A Big Thank You

The Career Development Group (CDG) North East  is a specialist information group of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. It has different fundraising activities throughout the year but its main event is normally a summer sponsored walk of about 10 miles. This year some of the group  decided to walk the length of Hadrian’s Wall, 84 miles, and raise funds for CDG projects. In the initial planning stages Tracey Ainsley from Northumbria University, and a member of the group, noticed an article in the Evening Chronicle about the Lit& Phil’s Appeal. As the Lit & Phil has been a venue for many CDG and CILIP meetings it’s  a special place for the group.  So they  decided to help,  with funds raised being split between CDG international projects and the Lit & Phil.

They started training for the walk in January, with the walk dates set for 29th May-June 2nd   ,walking from Bowness on Solway to Segedunum Wallsend.  Tracey completed 84 miles with her  husband  and two friends. They  were joined by Louise Gordon of the Robinson Library on day two for the next 69 miles and over the 5 days another 20 CDG members, family and friends joined them at different points.

Money is still coming in initial indications show they will have raised about £1400 to be split between the Lit & Phil  and Career Development projects.
